Certified Blockchain Consultant® Course (CBCC)

COURSE OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVE

Disclaimer: This is not a Coder/Developer/Programmer's, Technical-focused or investment/trading course. While certain aspects of technical/investment/trading will still be covered briefly.

Institute of Blockchain® (IBS) Ltd is the Certification Awarding Body (CAB) and Certification Owner (CO) for the issuance of Certified Blockchain Consultant® (CBC). A Certified Blockchain Consultant® is a blockchain professional who is trained and assessed holistically in the Executive, Standards & Technical and Elective themes.

The Executive theme cover the basics of Fintech & Blockchain, its business models & strategies, blockchain compliance and regulation and Enterprise Blockchain.

The Standards and Technical theme cover blockchain's taxonomy, ontology, reference architecture, use cases, security, smart contract applications, governance, interoperability privacy & identity based on ISO TC307 Technical Standards.

The Elective theme covers fundamental blockchain applications development on Ethereum Blockchain such as smart contracts and decentralized applications, Robotic Automation Process (RPA), and transferable soft skills such as the SkillsFuture Singapore's Critical Core Skills (e.g Digital Fluency)

This course prepares learners to provide business consultation on Financial Technology (FinTech) & Blockchain technology primarily within the financial services and Info-communication Technology sectors and may extend to Logistics, Healthcare and Energy sectors. Learners shall be proficient in Fintech & Blockchain knowledge and skills after 2.5 months of training and assessment.

course structure

This is a 33 hours (within 2.5 months) course (both asynchronous and synchronous), comprising of 7 Core learning units from Executive, Standards & Technical themes and 3 learning units from Elective theme. The CBC is designed in accordance to the Skills Framework for Financial Services.

During at and the end of the course, learners has to pass the CBC Assessment to attain the CBC qualification. This course is available primarily in English & customizable to the Chinese language for Chinese-speaking countries.

CBC uses flipped classroom methodology, Learners will go through 6 - 8 weeks of self-directed eLearning (Asynchronous) at their own pace and time. Follow by 3 days of instructor-led/facilitated online training (Synchronous). Learners must complete the CBC Course before they are eligible to take the CBC Assessment.

This course is open to all nationalities and professions.

  • Week 6 - CBCC-EB: Enterprise Blockchain (2 hours)

Optional Elective:

  • After Week 6 - CBCC-ADEB: Applications Development on Ethereum Blockchain (2 hours)

  • CBCC-BRC Blockchain Regulatory Compliance (7 hours)

Course will be conducted via blended learning:

As part of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). AOP is for learners who have prior working experience or knowledge in blockchain such as taken a IBS or recognised non-IBS blockchain course/programme or working in a Fintech/Blockchain organisation in recent 1 year are able to be exempted from attending the entire CBC Course and may attempt the CBC Assessment directly to attain the CBC qualification.

Documentary Proof:

  1. Upload softcopy of Course Certificate with/without Transcript or indicate verifiable Credentialing URL to Certificate during assessment registration.

OR

  1. Upload a written Work Portfolio documenting relevant work or experience during assessment registration

Minimum Entry Requirements

*A WPLN (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Grammar/Vocabulary, Writing and Numeracy) Level 5 will be recognised in lieu of 4 GCE "O" level passes.

  • No prior technical qualifications or experience is required.

  • Foreign learners & undergraduates are welcome.

Additional Requirements/Note:

  • Submit/upload supporting documents with Scholarship Motivation Write-up during online course registration.

  • Upon verification of documents, you are required to attend an online interview with IBS Scholarship Panel. The scholarship application outcome will be made known to applicants within 14 working days from the interview.

  • Upon completing and passing the Competency Assessment, the scholarship applicant has to submit a Reflection Journal (in any of their own social media) of not less than 200 words in order to receive the Certificate of Completion.

  • The scholarship covers course fees and Competency Assessment fees.

  • The scholarship application is on a case-by-case basis and is subjected to quota and approval.

Certification

Certification/Qualification

Upon completion of all the eLearning units (Aysynchronous eLearning and Synchronous Training) and passing the CBC Assessment, the learner will be awarded a Certificate of Completion (COC) which will indicate the *Learning/Training hours.

*Learning/Training hours does not include Elective hours, Assessment hours and Lunch Break hours. With effect from Jan 2022.

Upon completing the CBC course, learner is eligible to apply for the Certified Blockchain Consultant® (CBC) Credential and able to use CBC title after their name. e.g. John, CBC. CBC is valid for lifetime, subject to maintaining of CPD hours.

All certificates will be issued electronically on blockchain via Government Technology Agency, Singapore's OpenCerts platform.
